First Federal Bank, in collaboration with Karen Mackey from the Marion County School Board and Advent Health Ocala, provided a unique one-day learning experience for a group of student interns with disabilities, aged between 18-22. The focus of this Advent Health Ocala supported one-year unpaid internship is to equip these students with real-world skills and experiences that will help them secure employment in the future.
The 10 interns visited an Ocala branch and spent their time discussing financial literacy with the bankers. The interns received a tour of the bank's facilities and concluded with being presented a Banking Basics booklet to take home and reference. The First Federal Bank team spent time explaining the role of a financial institution, answering the interns' questions and providing additional insights into the world of banking.
"We were thrilled to help educate these young adults on the importance of financial literacy," said Braylon Cave, Retail Market Manager. "It was inspiring to see the interns engage with banking content shared and ask questions throughout the day."
The collaboration between First Federal Bank, Marion County School Board, and Advent Health Ocala highlights the importance of community partnerships in providing hands-on learning opportunities for all.
