Banking in the Middle of a Pandemic

Online FinancesYou may not feel comfortable visiting your local branch right now. I understand. Don’t get me wrong; I miss seeing all of my customers! Limited lobby access and social distancing are necessary, but I can’t wait to be able to get back to normal. Until then, two great ways to stay on top of your financial needs without the risk of going out are mobile and online banking. These two convenient features make it simple and safe to do everything from deposit checks to move money.

Why go online?

There’s so much that you can easily do online in today’s world, and that includes managing your finances. One of the biggest advantage of online banking is convenience. Using a desktop browser or mobile app, you can pay your bills, send money to a friend or make a deposit with just a few clicks or taps. You won’t have to get into your car and drive to a building or wait in line for your turn — you can perform these actions instantly any time of day or night, including holidays.

Another benefit is being more aware of how your money is working for you. You can log in multiple times a day to see pending transactions and keep tabs on your balances, which allows you to react more quickly when there’s unexpected activity. By checking your accounts regularly, you can better protect yourself from fraudulent activity and minimize the damage done.

How to take advantage

To get started with First Federal’s online banking, you first must enroll. Follow this link to get started. During your first session you’ll be walked through the setup process. To learn more about the features and benefits of online banking you can watch this video. Remember, your password should be something unique and strong. Avoid using personal information, common phrases like password or consecutive numbers like 1234. Additional settings like a security question and two-factor authentication further protect your account from fraudulent access.

Once you have setup online banking, you’ll be able to visit the App store if you’re an iPhone user, or Google play for Android users, to download our app. Take the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the interface and what you’re able to do. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your local banker by phone or email. We’re always happy to help!

What can you do?

You can do most everyday financial activities online, including checking your account balances. As you become more comfortable with online banking, you can choose to go paperless and receive your monthly statements entirely online.

Depositing checks is another really convenient feature of our mobile banking app. You’ll need a smartphone with a camera and the First Federal mobile app. Open the app and tap ‘Deposit’, then ‘Deposit a check’. The app will walk you through taking photos of the front and back of the check and selecting the account to deposit into. After you complete the deposit, hold onto it for a few days to make sure there are no problems and then destroy it when the money has cleared.

If you have multiple accounts, like savings and checking, you can also use First Federal’s online banking or mobile app to transfer money between them. You’ll also have the opportunity to set up transfers to other banks or credit unions. This comes in handy if you need to send money to a friend or family member.

Online and mobile banking with First Federal Bank is convenient in any situation, and it’s particularly helpful in the face of today’s difficulties. If you need help taking advantage of this useful feature, visit our website and learn more about what we offer and how to use it.
