A Celebration to Unite a Nation

It’s a party 250 years in the making! The planning for America250 began in 2016, when Congress established the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. The nonpartisan group is composed of four U.S. Representatives and four Senators, 16 private citizens, and 12 Ex Officio members from all three branches of the federal government and its independent agencies:

On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

America250 invites everyone to take part in this national commemoration — through local events, shared experiences, and opportunities to reflect on the country’s past and future.

The mission was simple. The task, more complex. The commission carefully planned and launched multiple nationwide initiatives leading up to the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence: The Great American Field Trip, The Story of America, and America Gives.

Now, as the week of July 4th kicks off, the commission has introduced even more programs: America’s Block Party, Giving 4th, and Moments to Unite a Nation.

For years to come, you will remember how you marked this milestone in our nation’s history. No matter how and where you plan to celebrate, First Federal Bank wishes you a very happy and safe America 250!
